Dr Alex Tham’s Profile

Dr Alex Tham is an Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT)- Head and Neck Surgeon with specialized fellowship training in Advanced Rhinology (diseases of the nose and sinus) and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery. His expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of ENT services, including general ear, nose, and throat care, with a particular focus on advanced rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery. Dr. Tham’s medical journey began at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he completed his medical school training, followed by a residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery under the rigorous Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education – International (ACGME-I) programme in Singapore. During this time, he achieved membership with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and earned a Masters of Medicine (Otorhinolaryngology) from NUS.

His commitment to excellence was recognized with the prestigious Ministry of Health Scholarship, allowing him to pursue a one-year clinical fellowship in Advanced Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery at the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Canada, under the mentorship of Associate Professor Marc Tewfik in 2021.

Beyond his clinical prowess, Dr. Tham is an ardent supporter of evidence-based medicine, contributing significantly to the field through international peer-reviewed journal publications, conference presentations worldwide, and co-authoring book chapters. He is deeply invested in medical education, having served as a Clinical Core Faculty Member at the National Healthcare Group Residency, Adjunct Clinical Faculty at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (Nanyang Technological University), and Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore).

Dr. Tham’s passion for teaching extends to his role as a regular examiner for medical school examinations and a sought-after faculty member at both local and international ENT conferences and courses. Presently, he serves as the treasurer of the ASEAN Rhinologic Society and is an executive committee member of the Society of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, Singapore, showcasing his leadership and commitment to the advancement of ENT practices within the region and beyond.
